A political branding strategist offers his opinion in what it's needed for a successful campaign
It takes a political branding consultant — sometimes a village of them — to help guide political candidates through the perilous campaign gantlet. (...) The consultant not only helps develop the "image," but also manages the spin when a candidate falters or gaffs. Jon Houston, a former magazine art director and a design director for the 1996 Clinton-Gore campaign, whose New York firm Strategy + Execution has developed scores of campaigns for local New York Democratic candidates, is one of these behind the scenes experts. It started with the London Eye, but now, every big city with some self-respect is making sure it will have one. Singapore opened its last march. Peking will launche one (the biggest in the world, with 208 meters high) in 2009, the same year when Berlin opens its with 185 meters high.
